A specialized military industrial facility that was inaugurated on May
8, 1985, featuring an integrated infrastructure to support armored vehicles and
maintain a high level of technical and combat readiness.
The workshops utilize modern specialized industrial equipment,
machinery, and systems (lathes, milling machines, shapers, etc.), as well as mechanical
and chemical restoration equipment used for the maintenance, development,
modification, and reconstruction of all armored vehicles and operating systems
within the Jordan Armed Forces - the Arab Army.
The workshops were established based on the model of Anniston Army
Depot in the state of Alabama, USA.
Vision:
To maintain a high level of technical and combat readiness
for armored vehicles, equipment, and systems operating within the Jordan Armed
Forces, with the best economic feasibility and the highest level of
reliability.
Mission:
To provide maintenance services, including repair,
preparation, overhaul, rebuilding, and modification, for armored vehicles
operating in the Jordan Armed Forces and their main and sub-assemblies.
Duties:
- Providing fourth-line technical
support for armored vehicles, as Al-Hussein Main Workshops were designed to
sustain fourth-line repairs for all armored vehicles and their main and
sub-assemblies.
- Rebuilding and modernizing
economically viable armored vehicles to raise their combat readiness to the
manufacturer's specifications.
- Rebuilding, overhauling, and
repairing the main and sub-assemblies of armored vehicles.
- Modifying and developing armored
vehicles, where the workshops implement all approved technical modifications to
armored vehicles in order to meet the needs of the Jordan Armed Forces - the
Arab Army.
- Restoration and local manufacturing,
where the workshops restore many repairable technical parts. Key operations
include the restoration of road wheels and track links, and the manufacturing
of rubber pads.
- Pre-planning and programmed
execution of overhaul or rebuilding work for the main and sub-assemblies of
armored vehicles within a timeframe.
- Providing support for cannons of 20
mm caliber and above, in addition to the precision instruments attached to the
vehicles.
- Maintaining and repairing the
equipment, machinery, and technical and administrative infrastructure within
the workshops through the Technical Services Division, according to periodic
maintenance programs.
- Provide technical studies and
consultations to develop vehicles and equipment and propose suitable solutions
via the Planning and Production Control Division in coordination with relevant
divisions.
- Cooperating with a number of
governmental and private institutions (Royal Scientific Society, Jordan Design
and Development Bureau (JODDB), etc.).

Major Projects Completed at King Hussein Main Workshops:
Since their establishment, Al-Hussein Main Workshops has
completed numerous projects, some of the most important of which include:
Rebuilding:
- Rebuilding of M109A1
self-propelled howitzers.
- Rebuilding of M113 armored
personnel carriers, YPR vehicles, M60A3 vehicles, and M88 vehicles.
- Al-Hussein tank preparation
project.
Modification:
- Gearbox modification for the
"Khalid bin Al-Waleed" tank.
- Modification of Saxon vehicles
to include 3 firing ports on each side.
- Modification of the M577
vehicle into an ambulance.
- Modification of the M577
vehicle into a command post.
- Modification of the
"Centurion" tank into the "Tariq bin Ziyad" tank.
- Modification of the M113A1
armored personnel carrier to the M113A2 Mark/1.
Manufacturing:
- Manufacturing of a gunner's
protection shield with a protection level of B6 and NATO L1.
- Manufacturing of a "Swing
Arm Mount" for the M60 machine gun.
